Podcasting is a free service that allows Internet users access to spoken word, digital audio files from a podcasting Web site to listen to on their computers or personal device.
The name podcast combines the terms iPod and broadcast into a single catchy word and podcasts can be listened to while you are driving, working out in the gym, or doing household chores. They can be talks varying from a one-minute news snippet to a three-hour interview while others are daily, weekly, or monthly talks covering many different topics.
If you want to start a podcast, you need to ask yourself:
Why you are starting one and what is the podcast about?
What is your goal or purpose?
A podcast can generate business leads and share important messages, while giving you fun in producing these. Start by finding your podcast theme or topic and be passionate about your choice. Market research is your next step to find out if there are other podcasts with a similar theme. If there are, then listen to them and find ways where you can make improvements. Your podcast name must be specific and relevant, and also contain catchy and memorable keywords (just one or two) so that your podcast ranks high. The important thing is to choose a format that fits what your podcast is about and is something with which you are comfortable.
It is vital that you know and understand your audience and the niche you have chosen. You will need good equipment and recording software to turn your recording into a podcast
