IN THIS LESSON
Graphic Design’s function is to create visual concepts...
…to inform consumers of various products using words, images and/or graphics in physical and virtual art forms.
Concepts can be created either by hand or using computer software.
A graphic designer tends to be artistic, creative and expressive. Energy and enthusiasm, together with confidence, are good assets for this kind of job, as well as excellent communication and conceptual skills.
The goal of a graphic designer is to promote products in a way that makes the marketing and advertising of an organisation’s products visible and known to the public.
There are a number of different fields in graphic designing such as package designing, name branding and web designing to name just a few.
Most professional graphic designers have a degree in graphic design or other art and design-based subject. You will also need a working knowledge of desktop design software, such as Illustrator, InDesign or QuarkXPress, and image-editing packages such as Photoshop or Canva.
