Your talent and tools are used to transform and improve a client’s face, using cosmetic techniques, processes and products to change a person’s appearance, to bring out colour and features and hide flaws.
In the film industry special effects are created to change an actor’s appearance.
Enrolling in a makeup school would be to your advantage as you will learn all the tricks of this trade; however, you can be a self-taught makeup artist by practising on family and friends to acquire and perfect the skills needed for this job.
The products that you will use are foundation, blush, powder, mascara, eye shadow and eye liner, lip colour and lip liner, brushes and a cosmetic palette.
Always maintain an awareness of cleanliness, health and safety.
If an opportunity arises for you to attend a workshop or seminar, then take it so that you can keep in touch with trends and with other makeup artists.
You can build up a clientele by word of mouth and advertising on social media.
