It helps to bath and brush a dog before cutting to get rid of knots and clumps of hair that make grooming difficult and even painful.
Regular grooming ensures that a dog’s health is maintained, and is an important part of dog care decreasing the chances of a dog having health problems.
Some dogs can get nervous working with the groomer, while others remain calm and relaxed. Every dog is unique, so the groomer needs to be prepared and have the skills to work with various kinds of temperaments.
Dog groomers need to love animals, remain calm when grooming as dogs are very sensitive to the groomer’s feelings, be patient as some dogs can be feisty, and be physically fit as some heavy dogs will have to be lifted onto the cleaning area.
Dog grooming can be a fun and emotionally rewarding career, but there is real work involved. Find a grooming business that will let you be an apprentice to experience on-the-job training and show a commitment to learn the trade.
