Soil Fertility
IN THIS LESSON
Good soil fertility results in good harvests.
Good soil fertility results in good harvests. In other words, crop yield is generally high, provided there is enough water. Crops tend to grow more quickly and be healthier if they grow in fertile soil.
Farmers should be aware that different plants have different needs. Some plants need a lot of nutrients for vegetative or reproductive growth, such as leaf vegetable plants (spinach, cabbages or broccoli). Plants like carrots need fewer nutrients.
