Using the internet to market your business is called digital marketing ...

…and includes social networks like Facebook, which has more than 140 million users in Africa.

Social Media

Use social media. Create albums and post regular status updates. Let’s say you’ve just finished making an outfit for a client. Take a picture of them wearing it and post it on Facebook saying, “Another happy client. If you want an affordable dress for a special event, call Fabulous Designs on 000 333 3333.” Remember to mention how much products cost. Don’t use too many filters! The photo should be an accurate picture of what the product looks like!

Getting on Social Media

To have a social media account, you need an email address (try gmail.com), then you can go to facebook.com, x.com, etc. and choose the button that says sign up or register. Once you’re registered, you can create a profile with your picture and biography, where you can tell people about yourself.

Remember that social media is primarily visual. Your business account should regularly be posting cool photos that attract the eye!

How to Make a Business Page on Facebook

Because Facebook is one of the largest social networks in the world, it makes sense that it works extremely well as a marketplace, given the huge number of users.

From your Facebook profile page, click the Pages header in the left-side navigation. Next, click the Create a Page button, and select the type of page – Local Business or Place, for example, or Brand or Product. You'll see a number of fields to fill out, such as your business category, name, and address.

Next, click the Get Started button, and Facebook will guide you through the rest of the setup process, step by step. If you skip any of those steps, you can fill them out later on a new page in the Facebook Welcome section, which only page admins will see.

Facebook will then guide you through some easy relevant steps to complete the page, like adding a logo, maintaining admins, and updating correct contact details.

Just remember your social-media skills here guys – content. Put in effort to make your pics and videos ultra-clickable.
The more clicks, the more timelines you show up on, and the more buzz you’ll create!
